Government Grants (Retrofits)Saskatchewan Residents
Saskatchewan Grant of $3,500 for Geothermal systems applies if you are replacing an existing wood, electrical, oil or propane primary heating system. To be eligible for the grant if replacing a natural gas heating system, the electricity to run the system must be generated on-site using a renewable resource. This criteria takes into consideration economics and the impact on the environment in Saskatchewan.

This program is applicable to residents who install a system in a new home, or choose to retrofit an existing home to accommodate a geothermal and/or renewable system. Eligible customers can receive a loan for up to $25,000 to install a geothermal system, and/or a loan of up to $25,000 to install a renewable electricity generation system. The minimum loan is $5,000 and the total of the loan(s) cannot exceed $50,000. The interest rate for this loan program is 2% lower than SaskPower’s standard lending rates, which will vary depending on the term of the loan(s). Please contact us to fill out a loan application or contact the Canadian Geoexchange Coalition (CGC) for more information.
In addition to the loan program, SaskPower Eneraction is adding a $3,500 enhancement to the existing provincial Energy Efficiency for New Homes Rebate Program for customers who are building new ENERGY STAR® qualified, R-2000 certified or EnerGuide 80 homes and want to install a geothermal system. Please contact SaskEnergy for more information on this and the EnerGuide for Houses program. Web: saskenergy.com |
